PTFTC-Parenting Tips From the Childless
Wed Apr 02, 2008 at 08:01:37 AM PDT
Last week, another parent and I were engaged in a conversation about having just one child and about the fact that the ship has sailed for us in terms of having more children when another person chimed in and stated rather strongly that I should have more children.
I found out later that this person was childless. I suspected as much from their watery evaluation of our very solid reasons for opting not to reproduce any more...
When the info was confirmed, I was like
What.
the.
heck.?????
It brings to mind some unsolicited advice from my whiny 50 year old male co-worker about raising my son.
Sigh....
Did You "Settle"?

Wow...This conjured mixed feelings but I thought that this would be an interesting read. (Long-but well worth it.)
The author seems to be making a case for settling for a man who is "good enough" - while you are young and still actually appealing to men.
I bolded the more "interesting" statements...
Yikes!
Do YOU Do This? If so-Please Stop.

I commute via a vanpool to my office.
The regular vanpool driver asked me to drive so he could take the day off from work. So...there I was... driving a van full of people when someone in a small, red sports car veered directly into our path.
Yes...This person actually crossed the double line and ended up driving into oncoming traffic because they were DIALING THEIR CELLPHONE.
I hit the brakes as hard as I could.
Thank heavens - at the last minute the person looked up and stopped as well....inches away from the front of the van. Then they simply sped away.
If you are in the habit of dialing or text messaging while driving please reconsider how your actions could impact (no pun intended) your life and the lives of others.
And, please keep in mind that in some cities - if you are caught doing this - you could be harshly penalized.
And, If you happen to hit someone like me - trust and believe that you will be sued down to your last pair of thongs.

TAMMY WYNETTE
Stand By Your Man
(Tammy Wynette/Billy Sherrill)
Sometimes its hard to be a woman
Giving all your love to just one man
You'll have bad times
And he'll have good times
Doing things that you don't understand
Stand by your man
Give him two arms to cling to
And something warm to come to
When nights are cold and lonely
Stand by your man
And tell the world you love him
Keep giving all the love you can
Stand by your man
But if you love him you'll forgive him
Even though he's hard to understand
And if you love him
Oh be proud of him
Cause after all he's just a man
Stand by your man
Give him two arms to cling to
And something warm to come to
When nights are cold and lonely
Stand by your man
And tell the world you love him
Keep giving all the love you can
Stand by your man
Stand by your man
And show the world you love him
Keep giving all the love you can
Stand by your man
Notice How She Does NOT Look Up?

OK...Please watch this:

This woman looks like hell and she NEVER looks into the crowd for any significant amount of time.
Why is she reading his statement over his shoulder?
Apparently she gave up her career to be his helpmeet...: http://www.nypost.com/...
Clearly I Am a Terrible Mother
Tue Mar 04, 2008 at 08:24:44 AM PDT
Apparently, my 6 year old son - who is an only child and who has been campaigning for a sibling for quite some time (years, in fact...) - got on the BeforeCare/AfterCare van and, on the way to school, proudly announced that I was planning on removing my I.U.D. from my uterus so that he could have three siblings.
And-yes I was the one who explained to him that I had an I. U. D. in my uterus and that's why I could not get pregnant.
Does anyone have a similar tale?
Was I wrong?
